Since outlining the intended goals for how to manage you, my subscribers and build my list to the lofty goal of 1,000, ten days ago, you’ve been very much in my thoughts.
What could I do for you and your business that would really make a difference to you? What would persuade you that it was worth following? How could I differentiate this from the tens of thousands of other earnest voices online, all offering excellent business advice and information for free?
What do you have time for?
Even when advice might resonate and make a meaningful contribution to your bottom line, there is no guarantee you have the time to employ it.
The latest Word Carnival, Productivity. How to get your _ done, illustrated this conundrum clearly.
There is too much we want to do, too little time, too many distractions, too little focus, too much information, not enough action. Even the amazing pool of advise offered by the good bloggers of the carnival to redress this, required too much time to select, eliminate, understand, act on, implement.
If this is happening to us, the business suppliers, it is likely happening to our clients. It’s bad enough when one party is time poor, but when both parties suffer the same problem, decisive action is hijacked. How often have you had to pester your client to take a decision so you can get on?
What I absolutely don’t want to do is to add more to your info-burdened shoulders!
The Internet and the gem market
The Internet is like a jewelry bazaar. Too many bedazzling choices.
In mulling this over for the last 10 days, I asked what had I needed in the first four years of this massive online learning curve to help me make the right choice, at the right time? I frequently didn’t, in terms of both products and suppliers, with some quite devastating results in wasted time and money.
What I had needed was answers all in one place, from reputable people or products. An easy to search library of resources.
A quick review or recommendation, for a solution free or paid.
A precis of what was on offer without having to read through the waffle on either side. Not that all information products are padded with waffle, but often the answer is bedded somewhere on a page in the middle, or in the 25th minute of a webinar and you must wade through other ‘stuff’ to get to it.
Does such a resource exist? There are forums of course and blogs by the billion, but a single, clean, clear resource such as this one? Not that I can find.
Okay, next question. Do I have the time to manage this? Would it be profitable for me and you? Well, if it becomes a community resource, yes I think so.
It doesn’t at first solve the managing subscriber and building your list challenge as posed in Part 1 and Part 2.
Like so many other situations in life, the solution is often a dozen steps or more away from the original problem, and infrequently in a straight line.
I will think a bit more on this, see what you think, and get back to How to Manage Subscribers and Build Your List in a while, when the decision is clearer.
