Talking to a woman who is engaged, passionate, in touch with herself and her story, is inspiring. Even if that person is a virtual stranger, within a short space of time you feel as if you have known them for a long time.
There is something about the depth of personal exploration that has gone into a full understanding of where she sits in the present, and where she is comfortable going into the future, that is connective to the listener.
There is no ground shifting, no sudden change of play. You know that the conversation will not be high-jacked, placing you in the awkward position of having to think on your feet, ” What did that mean? How should I respond to that? Did I understand that correctly?” In short, she is someone you can trust.
I met today with Tahnee Woolf of Speak Your Vision. We had first met at a women’s networking lunch a few months back and kept in touch. Tahnee is one such woman. She has already lived a life women several decades older than her, would be pleased to look back on. She’s fought battles and won, and in the process, grounded herself in a space where she can give to others, and does. In the process she will make an enormous difference in people’s lives.
The testimonials on her site attest to that. What interested me so much about her was how deeply, spiritually comfortable she was in her own presence. This is not a posture you can assume, not something you can will yourself into projecting. It is, I believe, the result of deep reflection and a desire to give back.
Blogging is about giving. A good post shares with the reader a thought, an idea, a reflection. It offers them a take-away. It speaks with genuine interest and passion, no matter what its subject. What it is not is a sales pitch or an ego fest. It’s outcome is relationship and trust building.
Tahnee is very passionate about what she does. She is already making a difference in a number of women’s lives, giving them the voice to speak about what they believe in, without hesitation and from the heart – and I believe she plans to do the same for men too soon.
Look out for these people. They invest in themselves and in the process invest in you too.
